Default How do you Re-Set the Beta Primary Key?

6 months ago, before the Collectors Edition existed, Fry's was selling the preorders and you just get a discount on the release version for the amount you paid--no item is what I was told by one of their sales people.

Well, since then an EB games moved within a block of where I live, and, being I am gonna be a ranger I went in and actually pre-orderd the Collectors Edition. Now I open the package and the envelope and card have a unique series on them, with "EB" at the front. Now I know the key is registered to the retailer--Wasn't sure how they were gonna do the special item, now I can see how. I tried to install over the client, tried uninstall then reinstall, at no point in time has it asked me for the primary key. It signs in like always once I put that information into the client.

So can anyone tell me how to reset the primary client key so I can input my new one?

If I remember correctly you put your beta key in and it registered it to your email address. If that is the case, I would just make a new account using a different email account as I don't think A.Net has a way for your to change your account information yet.

That said, I registered a LONG time ago and my memory is really fuzzy on the whole event, so I could be completely wrong.

Nope. you are correct...I changed pre-orders a while back myself. When I went to install the pre-order and it asked for email and the code number I simply used a different email address for the new pre-order pack. It still works easy that way. (email addresses can be gotten for free anyway..so if a change is needed it shouldn't be too difficult on you).

You all realize that gaile has commented on a board that there will be a account setup page on the client where you will be able to input exra beta codes for the same account. What you can do is simply coninue to use your exising beta pass, and when retail comes imput your retail pass and your other beta pass, then you will start with both pre order items on the same account. Since you don't have the pre order items in the beta this makes sense and you won't have to use another e-mail or not be able to use your origonal pre order item if you want.

I didn't want to put up a new post on this same subject, so I used my Res Signet on this thread. I hope you all appreciate this, I only had the one.

I have some new information about Preorder Items: As it turns out, a player account can have more than one preorder item on his or her account. Here is how it will work: You will have an Account Information Page for your Guild Wars account. On that page, you'll be able to do a lot of things, including inputting the retail key when you put up your copy of the game on April 28th. In addition, you could upgrade from the standard edition to the Collector's Edition, if you find that you can't live without the game soundtrack, the headphones, the Art of Guild Wars book and the Divine Aura. But most interestingly, you can also input an additional preorder key or keys, if you should so desire.

Now, I'm not saying "Go forth and buy one of every preorder on the planet," but I have been asked about the preorder items several times -- some folks have just had a lot of trouble deciding which preorder to get -- and this now is your definitive answer. Incidentally, the Account Info Page will be useful in the future, as we add the newer chapters of Guild Wars, and possibly as we have other opportunities where keys will be useful.

Hope this is good news to those of you who wondered about the subject!

If I had realized I wouldn't have put up a thread requesting some kind of help.

Thank you for your post that does help alot, and, that's why people who don't know make a thread or post somewhere else that addressed the question, which I couldn't quite find one like mine.
